To choose between a two-, three- or four-piece herb grinder, compare the compartments and features you will actually use, then check its diameter and height. More pieces do not automatically make a grinder a better match for your needs.
Start with three questions: do you want a simple grinding compartment, a separate place for the ground material, or a design with a screen and catcher? Then read the specific model's description. Piece counts are a useful starting point, but they are not a complete specification.

What does the piece count tell you?
The number normally describes the main sections of an assembled grinder. It does not necessarily count every removable insert or extra plate supplied in the box. Look at the opened-product photos alongside the description to understand what each section does.
